100,000 UAH: Ukrainian women will be able to receive an annual educational scholarship
Yulia Sporysh, a social activist, feminist, ambassador for gender equality in Ukraine, and founder and director of the NGO “Divchata,” is announcing the launch of a named educational scholarship for women in Ukraine.
Each year, one scholarship recipient will receive up to 100,000 hryvnias to pursue education, retraining, or professional development.
The Yulia Sporysh Scholarship was established for women and girls for whom education can be more than just another line on a resume—it can be a true turning point. Its main goal is to serve as a pillar of support for those who find themselves in difficult life circumstances, lack sufficient resources or support, but strive to change their lives, achieve economic independence, acquire a new profession, or gain a chance for self-fulfillment. After all, when one woman’s life changes, the future of an entire family, community, and society changes.
“I devoted the first 40 years of my life to laying the groundwork: I studied hard, worked tirelessly, and overcame prejudice and social barriers. I grew up in a low-income family and became the first woman in my family to earn a college degree, defend my master’s thesis, and build a house. But for that to happen, my mom invested her last bit of money in my education.
Today, I have my life’s work, professional fulfillment, financial stability, and a family I love. And that is exactly why, for the next 40 years, I would like to support those who are highly motivated and need it the most. This scholarship is for a woman who is currently looking at her life and realizes that to take a big step, she needs someone else to believe in her. For a woman who is used to putting her own ambitions on hold, yet clearly realizes she is capable of so much more,” says Yulia.
Who Can Apply and How
The Yulia Sporysh Scholarship has no age restrictions. Women of any age and from any background may apply. This includes high school graduates who are just figuring out their path, as well as women aged 40+, 50+, and older who are looking to make a major career change, return to school after a long hiatus, or fulfill a long-held professional dream.
The funds received (up to 100,000 UAH) can be used for:
studying at a higher education institution or in a master’s program;
- vocational training or retraining courses;
- certification programs or other educational courses that pave the way to financial independence.
Applications for the scholarship will be accepted annually from November 21 to February 11. The name of the winner who will receive the funding will be announced each year in March. You can find detailed eligibility requirements and fill out the application form on Yulia Sporysh’s official website.
